Charges recommended in Highlands Ranch PETCO crash

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Investigators have recommended charges be filed against a driver who crashed her SUV through the front of a PETCO store in Highlands Ranch in early November, injuring six people.

Mary Ane McGee, 54, faces 6 counts of Careless Driving Resulting in Bodily Injury, which is a Class 1 misdemeanor.

On Nov. 5, investigators say McGee backed her Dodge Durango out a parking space and went through the front entrance of the PETCO at 1265 Sgt. John Stiles Drive, hitting customers inside.

“Two separate tests were conducted on the vehicle, one by the Colorado State Patrol and the other by the Chrysler Corporation,” Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cocha Heyden said in a statement.

“The results indicated that there was no apparent vehicle malfunction during the incident.”
