Colorado Oil and Gas Companies Donate Over $250,000 to Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts

In response to this summer’s devastating wildfires, support from Colorado oil and gas companies has surpassed $250,000 in donations to fund American Red Cross disaster relief efforts in Colorado, Tisha Schuller, President and CEO, of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA), announced today.

That figure is expected to rise even more when charitable giving by company employees and matching funds provided by companies are taken into account.

“We are so very grateful for this support from corporations who operate in our state – your donations have helped us provide shelter, food, comfort and recovery supplies to the residents affected by these devastating wildfires and will help ensure that we are ready to respond to the next disasters that strike in our Colorado communities,” said Gino Greco, CEO of the American Red Cross Mile High Region.

“These last few weeks and months having been devastating for those communities affected by the fires,” Schuller said.   “I am honored to work in an industry with such a strong commitment to community and that follows through with substantive support by giving to the Red Cross and the many other valuable organizations assisting Colorado as we come together to recover.”

The following are donations provided by the oil and gas industry in Colorado to support American Red Cross disaster relief in Colorado since June 9, 2012:

  • BP - $100,000 plus matching grant to all colleagues
  • DCP Midstream - $50,000
  • Noble - $50,000 plus employee match to $1000 each employee (Another $20,000 so far in employee and matching funds)
  • QEP Resources - $25,000 plus up to $10,000 for employee match grant
  • Marathon Oil - $10,000
  • Pioneer Natural Resources - $10,000
  • Black Diamond Minerals - $5000

“As someone who lived through the in Four Mile Canyon fire, I know first-hand the devastation a fire can have on a community, but more importantly the healing and calming influence the Red Cross provides,” Schuller continues.  “As a direct result, I became a Member of the Red Cross Board, for I know that without the Red Cross and other emergency relief organizations, these families would be left without the critical, time-sensitive services they need to make it through this difficult time.”
