FOX31 Denver, Channel 2 collecting toys for local children | Community Spirit

DENVER -- FOX31 Denver and Colorado’s Own Channel 2 are proud to announce that they are holding "Hope for the Holidays," a one-day toy drive on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011.

In a special partnership with The Salvation Army, Pepsi, and Sam’s Club, new, unwrapped toys will be collected on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Collection locations include the FOX 31/Channel 2 Studios & Sam’s Club locations throughout the Denver metro area.

The toys will then be distributed to prequalified families in need by The Salvation Army through their holiday program.

"We are expecting an increase of around 10 to 12 percent more this year, with more last minute families than ever." said Lt. Colonel Daniel Starrett of the Salvation Army,

"This isn’t about us or our partners, it’s about serving children. The goal is to collect as many
toys as we can to try and make Christmas merry for every child."

"The need is greater than ever this holiday season," said Peter Maroney, President and General Manager of Fox 31 Denver & Colorado’s Own Channel 2, "And we feel it’s important to give back to Colorado families. That’s why the entire staff, of both stations, is supporting this important initiative."
