LONE TREE, Colo. -- Prosecutors have dismissed misdemeanor child abuse charges against a decorated Denver Police officer and his wife who were accused of giving alcohol to their toddler at a restaurant.
Jeremy and Amy Olive were cited in August 2011 after patrons and a bartender at a Lone Tree restaurant claimed they saw the couple’s daughter drinking a margarita from a straw.
In dropping the charges, a spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District said it was all a “misunderstanding.”
“While at a restaurant a concerned citizen was under the impression that the couple had given alcohol to their baby. After a review of additional witness statements, it appears that the child was given water and not alcohol,” said DA’s office spokesperson Casimir Spencer.
Olive remained on active duty throughout the investigation.
