AURORA, Colo. — Drivers who use E-470 can expect to see a newly designed bill that’s meant to highlight how users can save money and better explain the consequences of late payments.
“We re-evaluated the billing process and we found this would be a little more customer friendly and convenient,” said Jessica Carson, a spokesperson for the toll authority.
Staring this month, drivers can expect to receive an extra thirty days before an overdue bill would be turned over to a collections agency. The measure comes as E-470 officials admit that 75,000 customers remain on the collections list.
On Tuesday, officials released new details about the billing system that the road system hopes could encourage more customers to pay on-time.
“The billing statement has also been updated with a new look and feel. One new feature includes an account status area that alerts customers on impacts to their account if they do not pay on time.
There are also larger fonts used for the due date and amount due to help the customer identify what is owed and when the payment is due,” said the agency.
E-470 officials are also considering a proposal that would penalize drivers who don’t pay after several months by not allowing them to re-register vehicles.
